The University of Burgundy is a multidisciplinary institution that offers national diplomas (BUT, Bachelor's degree, Professional Bachelor's degree, engineering diploma, Master's degree, Doctorate, Accreditation to supervise research (HDR)...), and university diplomas (DU and DIU) in all major disciplinary fields (health, law, human sciences, languages, sport, etc.). The 1,500 permanent teaching and teaching-research staff and the 1,220 BIATSS staff welcome more than 33,000 students, spread over 6 campuses (Auxerre, Chalon-sur-Saône, Le Creusot, Dijon, Mâcon and Nevers, representing a university surface of more than 300,000 m². The uB is organized into 16 training and research components (8 training and research units (UFR), 1 higher school of teaching and education (ESPE), 2 engineering schools (ISAT and Polytech Dijon), 1 management school (IAE), 3 university institute of technology and 1 institute of vine and wine) which rely for their research activity on 29 labeled laboratories, half of which are joint research units (UMR) with major research organizations (INRAE, INSERM, CNRS, CEA) and 4 doctoral schools (including 3 common with the University of Franche-Comté). Established in 1928 to accommodate all professional groups and associations in the field of chemistry, the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie owes its existence to an international subscription organized to honour the memory of Marcelin Berthelot. 63 nations contributed which allowed the acquisition of the Hôtel de la Rochefoucauld d’Estissac located at 28 rue Saint-Dominique near the French Parliament in Paris. Today, more than 90 years later, the Foundation is a major player in serving the chemistry community in many areas which are summarized in the following presentation (pdf, 227 Ko).
